pad2005 Petit Verdot - Case of 12

Never tasted a Petit Verdot? You’re not alone. It is unique and seldom seen. There are only 895 bearing acres (compared to 71,536 of Cabernet Sauvignon) of it out of a total vineyard acreage of 440,296 in California.

It is a late ripening grape, usually our last to be picked. Ours has great aromas: mint, fennel seed, blueberry and floral notes. You might detect cherry syrup-like flavor in mid-palate, finishing with a tangy, crandberry-boysenberry. Styled like a Northern Italian red, it pairs well with eggplant parmesan, or a cheese plate. Our 2004 vintage has not yet been entered into international competitions. You have the choice of drinking it now or waiting. The other night we enjoyed a 1996 out of our library with roast pork and can confirm Petit Verdot ages well.
